catching up -- recapitulare

A little far behind with posting. I have pohotos piling up, both with travel and cooking. Both in 2010 and 2011 we went for 2 weeks in Europe with our tent. Hopefully we will do this in 2012, too- looking forward to that!
After Vicenza, in 2010, we were caught by a storm near Cavallino, went towards Trieste on a highway on the cliffs by the sea- beautiful scenery, and on through Slovenija-Postojna cave and beautiful Predjama castle, then Graz and back home. I still have some cooking photos from Christmas..
In 2011 we traveled again to Italy- mainly Tuscany, Florence, San Gimignano, Siena,Pisa, but also wonderful Portofino, with which I fell in love with. Starting our journey from Vienna, we also discovered a beautiful jewel in the mountains: Halstatt.
I wished to go up the platform on Stubai Glacier, but the weather was against us. Still, we discovered lovely Neustift and the amazing change of scenery as we crossed the Tirolese Alps-also, a magnificent must-see.
From Italy we went back towards home through peaceful Klagenfurt, which we found very relaxing: we rented bikes and played chess.
Hopefully we shall see all that in pictures soon.

Un pic in urma cu postarile. Se aduna fotografii, si cu calatorii si cu ce am gatit. Si in 2010, si in 2011 am fost 2 saptamani cu cortul prin Europa. Speram sa facem la fel si in 2012- de-abia astept!
Dupa Vicenza, in 2010, am prins o furtuna la Cavallino, am mers spre Trieste pe o sosea ce serpuia pe stancile de pe malul marii- peisaj minunat, si mai departe in Slovenia, la pestera Postojna si la frumosul castel Predjama, la Graz, in Austria si inapoi acasa...si as avea si ceva imagini de la ce am gatit de Craciun.
In 2011 am mers iar in Italia, in special Toscana: Florenta, San Gimignano, Siena, Pisa, dar si minunatul Portofino, de care m-am indragostit.
Incepand calatoria din Viena, am descoperit o bijuterie de orasel in munti: Halstatt.
Mi-am dorit sa urc pe platforma de pe ghetarul Stubai, dar vremea ne-a fost potrivnica. Oricum, am descoperit Neustiftul si schimbarea de peisaj uluitoare cand am trecut Alpii Tirolezi- de vazut,e magnific.
Din Italia am revenit acasa prin linistitul Klagenfurt -un loc relaxant: am inchiriat biciclete si am jucat sah.
Sper sa postez imagini curand.

Ulm U[nexpected]

The city where Einstein was born surprised us with its wonderful architecture as we passed through it when heading for Stuttgart. /
Orasul in care s-a nascut Einstein ne-a suprins cu frumoasa sa arhitectura , cand l-am vazut in trecere spre Stuttgart.
The new centre has a daring and modern architecture./
Centrul nou are o arhitectura moderna si indrazneata.




While we knew what to expect in the old centre, still, an open market with delicius treats took us by surprise again, so we decided to put the grape marc and rosemary cheese to a test./
Desi stiam la ce sa ne asteptam in centrul vechi, totusi piata cu delicatese ne-a suprins placut, asa ca am decis sa degustam branzeturile cu tescovina si rozmarin.

Then we went to see the cathedral, which charmed us with its wonderful details and the world's highest spire./
Apoi am fost sa vedem catedrala, care ne-a incantat cu minunatele sale detalii si cea mai inalta turla din lume.
The symbol of the town is the sparrow, which is in che cathedral and also on the buildings on the city streets./
Simbolul orasului este vrabia, care este reprezentata atat in catedrala, cat si pe cladiri, in oras.









The city library is inside a pyramid./

Zurich wonderland
